The Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program

A message from the Program Director

Dear Prospective Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in the Nuvance Health Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship program. Our program is committed to providing a high-quality, hands-on learning experience to the fellow.

The one-year fellowship accepts one fellow per year. During the training period, our fellow will gain experience in the diagnosis and management of breast cancer in a professional, collaborative, inclusive, diverse, and innovative environment.

Our communities and patients have access to cutting-edge breast care; from prevention, screenings, diagnostics, genetic testing, clinical trials, and treatment, to rehabilitation, nutrition, therapy, complementary medicine and cancer survivorship services.

Our Program is based at the Nuvance Health’s Dyson Center for Cancer Care on the campus of Vassar Brothers Medical Center, the flagship hospital of Nuvance Health in New York. In addition, the fellow will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with our esteemed faculty in the Danbury Hospital. The fellow will receive individualized attention and learning due to the small size of the program, and work closely with me and our faculty to become proficient in the knowledge and procedures related to breast surgical oncology management. Our fellow will collaboratively work with Medical Oncologists, Surgical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Radiologists specialized in breast, Pathologists, social workers, Nutritionists, and Lymphedema Specialists within the Nuvance Health system.

Our faculty and I are proud to contribute to shaping the current and future state of breast care, developing comprehensive and accessible breast cancer programs and widening the bench of skilled breast surgeons. We look forward to training the next generation of Breast Surgical Oncology specialists!

Sincerely,
Susan K. Boolbol, MD, FACS
Program Director, Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship
