The General Practice Residency (GPR) in Dentistry is a one-year clinical and didactic program sponsored by Danbury Hospital. The overall objective of the hospital-based residency program at Danbury Hospital is to produce general dentists with a high level of clinical competency that will allow them to care for patients who require an increased reliance on total patient evaluation, alongside their medical colleagues in the health care community.

Diagnostic Radiology

Norwalk Hospital’s residency in Diagnostic Radiology provides a clinically intense but highly supportive environment for resident training, which is essential to our educational philosophy and approach to teaching. The program consists of 10 radiology residents, three alternating with two in each of the four years. The teaching faculty is composed of 14 fellowship-trained radiologists.

Family Medicine

Our primary training site, Northern Dutchess Hospital, provides a close-knit environment within the larger academic system at Nuvance Health. Nuvance Health prioritizes family medicine training at this site by offering unopposed clinical rotations such as inpatient medicine, outpatient pediatrics, and geriatrics. Residents will have access to the same educational resources as a large teaching institution while maintaining the principled role of a family medicine physician. We are excited to open our brand-new outpatient Family Medicine Practice with our community partners at Hudson River Healthcare. Our trainees will receive broad exposure to diverse patient populations and provide quality patient care to the entire Mid-Hudson Valley community.

Internal Medicine at Danbury Hospital

The mission of the Internal Medicine program at Danbury Hospital is to provide our residents an outstanding educational experience to ensure that they are prepared to practice general internal medicine or to enter subspecialty fellowship training. This is done by educating them in the essentials of clinical medicine along with the necessary pathophysiology and basic science required of a knowledgeable and skillful physician. The residents are taught to deliver health services, regardless of a patients’ ability to pay, to a diverse patient population without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, or social status. The program requires and supports our residents’ role as teachers and educators in their interactions with their peers, students, ancillary medical professionals, and patients. In addition, the program supports the professional development of our residents allowing for personal growth and individualization of goals.

Internal Medicine at Norwalk Hospital

The goal of the Categorical Internal Medicine Residency is to train superior internists able to care for inpatients and outpatients across a wide disease spectrum. By graduation, all of our residents have participated in leadership and scholarly activities. Our program is the right size to provide breadth and depth of experience with personalized mentoring and feedback. The three major areas of clinical exposure are Team Care, Critical Care and Ambulatory Medicine at the Norwalk Community Health Center. We have a high Internal Medicine Board passage rate, with our residents pursuing excellent fellowship and practice opportunities upon graduation from our program.

Danbury Hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Department designed its training program to enable the graduating resident to assume the role of an OB/GYN Generalist as well as prepare them for an OB/GYN subspecialty if desired.
