Resident Reflections

Matthew J. Homsi
Chief Resident

Choosing Norwalk Hospital’s Radiology Residency stands out as one of the top decisions I’ve ever made. A significant draw to this program was its absence of fellows, which means that the residents are front and center, getting hands-on with every procedure and delving into advanced imaging modalities directly. The reading room, essential to our learning, blends a laid-back atmosphere with a focused approach, enhancing both our studies and encouraging collaboration. With the support of exceptional mentors and a committed team, I feel that my time at Norwalk is allowing me to become an adept and self-assured radiologist.

Being from Fairfield County, I was initially attracted to the Norwalk Hospital Radiology Residency because of its fantastic location and proximity to my family. I had always loved visiting the Norwalk waterfront downtown area, which has great restaurants and activities, including the aquarium. It turns out I do love living here, and I also enjoy the residency program for its tightknit community feel. The attending radiologists are very approachable, and our program director is incredibly receptive to our feedback. Even though we are a small program, we see interesting cases every day and have the opportunity to perform many procedures without any competition from fellows.
