Dr. Brian Murphy graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1999. During his Family Medicine Residency in Williamsport, PA, he found his passion for caring for those with life-limiting illness and patients receiving hospice care. Dr. Murphy completed a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program in 2005, through Capital Hospice & Palliative Care in the greater Washington DC area. Working there, he found fulfillment in all aspects of the field including inpatient and home hospice and inpatient and outpatient Palliative Care. Over the years he has served as a Hospice Medical Director at Agrace Hospice in Madison, WI, the Hospice of New York in New York City, and served as the Chief Medical Officer at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, NV. After moving to New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley, Dr. Murphy has found himself working more in the Palliative Medicine arena, first at Garnet Health in Middletown and now for over three years at Vassar Brother’s Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Dr. Murphy has always enjoyed teaching residents, students, fellows, and nurses about all aspects of Hospice and Palliative Care. He has a passion for hiking and exploring our nation’s National Parks, so far setting foot in 57 of the 63 National Parks.
